About Four Quarters Mechanical

Located in South New Jersey, Four Quarters Mechanical is a commercial and residential HVAC and plumbing business that has been working in the industry for over three decades.

Serving customers in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania since 1990, they have a reputation for excellence and a team of trained and experienced professionals always ready to help.

The Challenge

A very important piece of the inventory management puzzle comes from organizing your warehouse. For Four Quarters Mechanical, their challenge came in the form of an unorganized shop. With materials everywhere – floor included – this made for a very inneficient way of operating.

Add to that an inability to track anything – inventory, count, materials coming back from jobs – and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Field supervisors became extremely frustrated due to the fact they couldn’t find the materials they needed and, without proper tracking, the team was unable to get an accurate idea of which materials were coming back from jobs. This ultimately impacted both their bottom line and team morale.

You had to have been working in the shop for five years in order to understand where everything was. If we hired a new person off the street, they’d have no idea where things were. It was a big challenge for us to run efficiently because a lot of our construction jobs relied on materials to be delivered properly, and it just wasn't happening.

The Solution

For Four Quarters Mechanical, implementing Ply was not a want, but a need. The inventory audit and intake process was a group effort, with both teams working together to clear space, barcode materials, and organize the warehouse. Brandon Sady, Director of Business Development, described this as having a huge impact because they were suddenly able to look at every single piece of inventory they had and how much there actually was.

And it didn’t stop there. While they were previously having issues with items coming back from jobs, now they were able to track everything. This meant that the team was aware of the materials that were on trucks for different jobs and which ones were coming back from construction sites.

I would say we got all the support we needed for the intake process. Darion and his team came to our warehouse and they were really the main driving force on getting us up to speed without them. Every step of the way they trained our guys, they were very helpful (…) to get us started on the inventory process.
